Notes: Cy McNeill was somewhat confused on the children of Alexander McNeill and Mary "Polly" McEachern. Alexander's estate settlement of 1822 had no genealogical information but much effort toward its resolution had been done by Nov 1821. Histories say Alexander and Mary had six children but an 1843 Robeson deed, Polly's 1839 will and other deeds show they had a daughter Elizabeth whose husband was John Buie and an elder, unmarried son James, making eight children. Much of what Cy McNeill wrote about them is true, however.

James died unmarried before 1839, the date of his mother's will. He is found only as a mention in the Robeson County deeds wherein the children of Alexander and Polly McNeill are dividing the estate of their parents.

Flora Ann McDougald in 1844; lived near Shannon in Robeson Co., NC. Had one child Amanda who married James M. Carter. According to Hector's estate papers of 1885 Amanda Carter had a "mental incapacity" but her will fills out her family genealogically. Hector is given the middle initial 'N.' twice in his estate settlement of 1885..

1. Elizabeth "Betsy" McNeill
abt 1815
after 1849

John J. Buie, moved to Georgia. Cyrus McNeill in his history of the family omits Elizabeth and her brother James. Descendants of John J. Buie state that he was an evil man. I have found hints that John J. Buie had two families in Georgia.
