Elizabeth McNeill McKay was the daughter of Duncan McKay and Harriett McNeill McKay of Philadelphus, Robeson County, NC. In 1875, she married Edwin Chalmers McNeill, Sheriff of Robeson County, and son of John McNeill, Jr. [son of "Cunning John" McNeill and Margaret McMillan], and Elizabeth McCallum. Chalmers and Lizzie McNeill lived in Rowland, NC.
